This idea may make you suspicious initially. It may sound too good to be true. Nevertheless, there are legitimate companies that actually pay people to do this, and you don’t need any special skills, just a computer and an Internet connection.

How Does it Work?

Internet advertising is powerful, but is only useful if the advertiser can persuade Web users to actually look at their advertisements. The average Web surfer may be exposed to dozens of ad links in just one hour of surfing. However, the advertiser has little control over whether surfers will actually click on the links.

Indeed, most Web surfers do not click on more than one or two ad links per day, some don’t click any at all during their everyday Web surfing experience. So how can advertisers leverage the potential impact of their ads and ensure that their efforts to draw in viewers actually pay off? By paying for viewers.

Here’s how they do it: the advertiser contracts with a secondary company that specializes in viewer recruitment. The advertiser provides the company with the link to the ad or Website that it wants viewers to see.

The company then recruits viewers by paying them to click on the link, which is emailed to the viewer. It pays the viewer a portion of what it receives as its fee from the advertiser. This is how YOU get paid to read emails.

What Can I Get Paid for Reading Emails and Clicking on Links?

The pay depends largely upon the company that recruits the viewers. As we mentioned already, the viewer recruiter receives a fee from the advertiser. The recruiter then pays part of that fee to its viewers. The average company pays between 2 and 3 cents per link that a viewer clicks on. Therefore, the more links you are able to view, the more money you’ll make.

When you consider that it takes only a few seconds to open an email and click on a link, you can make several dollars per hour doing this. You can spend just a few minutes or hours each day doing very little and getting paid for it.

How to Get Started

First, sign up with a viewer recruiter. There are a number of these on the Internet. Here are just a few of them:

www.emailcashpro.com
www.matrixmails.com
www.getpaid5times.com
www.emailpaysu.com
www.availmail.com
www.inboxdollars.com
www.hits4pay.com
www.cashmoneymail.com
www.readclick.com
www.get-paid.com

You can sign up with just one. Or, if you want to spend a lot of time and make more money at it, you can sign up with more than one company.

Here’s how you do it:

1) Go to the home page of your chosen recruiter and locate the button or link leading to the sign-up page. Look for text reading “Sign Up” or “Get Started” or some variation of this. Click on the link/button.

2) You’ll be re-directed to the sign-up page where you’ll be asked to provide some basic personal/biographical information. You’ll likely need to give your name, address and phone number. You’ll also be asked to choose a user name and secret password which you will use to access the member’s area of the Website and your own account.

3) Once you’ve filled in all the required information, you’ll be asked to agree with the terms of the Website and the rules for getting paid for reading emails and clicking on links. It’s important that you take the time to read this information carefully. It may take a few minutes, but you need to have a thorough understanding of what is expected from you and what you can expect from the company. After reading, be sure to click on the appropriate box, usually marked “I agree.” If necessary, click on the “Submit” link to be re-directed to the next page.

4) Depending on the company that you choose to work with, your application may have to be reviewed before you’ll be allowed to start. The review process may take a few hours to a few days. You will be notified by email if your application has been accepted. You’ll also be given instructions at that time on how to receive your emailed links and how you’ll be able to collect payment for the links that you click on.

A Few More Thoughts to Consider

  • Most viewer recruiting companies have a minimum threshold that must be reached by the viewer before the company will make payment. This may be anywhere from $25 to $100, depending on the company. Any money you earn from clicking on the emailed links will be held in escrow until you reach your minimum payout threshold. Once you do, your money will be paid to you via the method previously agreed upon when you signed up for your account. Some pay you via PayPal or another online bank, while others mail its viewers a check or money order.
  • Depending on the company you are working with, you may be allowed to choose the types of links that you are sent for viewing. You may be allowed to choose categories or areas of interest from a list provided by the company.
  • Choosing the kinds of topics you are interested in decreases the chance that you’ll be exposed to material that you might find personally offensive. It also increases the chance that you’ll remain engaged with what you are viewing and that you’ll continue viewing the links that you’re sent. It makes for a win-win situation.
  • A number of the most popular viewer recruiting Websites offer cash sign-up bonuses to entice new viewers to participate. They typically run between one and ten dollars. Remember this when you choose the company you want to work with: it may influence your decision.

How Do Companies Recruit Their Viewers?

Email readers just like you are recruited by the thousands through Internet ads and by personal referrals. In fact, referrals are an important part of their recruitment process, and many recruiters offer their email readers the opportunity to make even more money by referring potential viewers to their company.

You may be offered the opportunity to do this, too. The company you sign up with may give you the option to provide them with a number of email addresses of potential viewers. Some offer a small fee for each email; others may only pay you if the email contacts you provide actually sign up for the program. Either way, it means the potential for you to make a little bit more money.

Hope this helps,

This is a very exciting way to earn money. So, this means that email reading can be a profession! I thought before that I have limited means of earning money since I am not a degree holder. Thank you for writing this article.

Really? I’m fond of reading emails. I don’t know why but I super love to read something new everyday. I even read spams. If I can earn from it, why not?

Indeed, email reading as a source of income seems to be suspicious. I clicked some suggested links and get into contact with some very personal testimonies from others. Now , I am convinced and hope to try this one also.

On average, how much will I earn if I will do this full time? Say, I will spend 8 hours reading mails. Do you have tips on what sites to choose? Should I accept multiple accounts? Please reply. Thanks

Hi Laura:

It really is hard to say how much you can earn doing this full time. It all depends on what the company is paying and how many emails you can actually go through each day. The sites I have listed are all decent sites to work with.
